Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Prepare for work
   • Job requirements are determined from workplace instructions
   • Trim materials are selected and inspected for quality
   • Safety data sheets (SDS) are sourced and interpreted
   • Hazards associated with the work are identified and risks are managed
   • Trim tools and equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) are selected and checked for serviceability
   • Work is planned to minimise waste and use time efficiently
2. Measure, mark, cut and fabricate trim
   • Material patterns are developed and prepared for use
   • Trim materials are measured, marked and cut according to workplace instructions and prepared pattern
   • Trimming tools and equipment are used according to workplace procedures and safety and environmental requirements
   • Trim is fabricated according to work instructions and job requirements
3. Attach trim
   • Trim materials are fitted and checked for alignment, appearance and quality according to job specifications and workplace instructions
   • Trim materials are attached to vehicle component and checked against specifications
4. Complete work processes
   • Final inspection is made to ensure work meets workplace expectations and component is presented ready for use
   • Work area is cleaned, waste and non-recyclable materials are disposed of, and recyclable materials is collected and stored
   • Tools and equipment are checked, reported if faulty, and stored according to workplace procedures
   • Workplace documentation is processed according to workplace procedures

trim removal and replacement

trim cleaning

procedures for protecting vehicle and components when trimming components

procedures for final inspection of trimmed component.
